Class Summary: In virtual hearings, mediations, depositions, and client meetings, attorneys must assess credibility, engagement, and confidence without relying on traditional in-person cues.
As legal proceedings increasingly move to digital platforms, subtle on-screen behaviors, facial expressions, posture, gestures, eye contact, vocal fluctuations, and on-camera presence can influence perception, credibility, and professional effectiveness, often without attorneys realizing it.
This session focuses on practical, immediately usable strategies for observing and interpreting nonverbal communication in virtual legal settings, while also improving how attorneys present themselves on screen.
Rather than relying solely on textbook examples, this program examines body language and communication cues observed in legal proceedings and courtroom testimony, including high-profile cases. Participants will learn how to recognize patterns in facial expressions, eye contact, vocal fluctuations, posture, and emotional responses as they occur in real time.
Through guided observation, attendees will strengthen their ability to evaluate nonverbal communication and better understand how it can influence credibility, perception, engagement, and persuasion in virtual environments.
